“London
was beginning to illuminate herself against the night. Electric lights
sizzled and jagged in the main thoroughfares, gas-lamps in the side
streets glimmered a canary gold or green.” ~ E.M. Forster
 he
outpost which would become London first appears in history as a small
military storage depot employed by the Romans during their invasion of
Britain, which began in A.D. 43. It was ideally located as a trading
center with the continent and soon developed into an important port.
Today, the world class city of London offers the best of the best, from
super chic fashions to famous hotels, opulent royal palaces to ultra
stylish bars and spas. We've incorporated the best that London has to
offer, and added highlights of Southern and Heart of England. You'll
not only experience London, but also Stonehenge, Bath, Shakespeare
Country, and Windsor. This tour is perfect for anyone visiting England
for the first time.

Today, you’re off to the Tower of London. This historic royal palace
has been an integral part of British history for nearly 1,000 years.
Only at the Tower can you marvel at the breathtaking Crown Jewels,
stand on the execution site of three English queens, and hear the myths
and legends that make a visit to the Tower 'a day out to die for'. This
evening, it's a flight on the British Airways London Eye. The London
Eye is the world's tallest observation wheel at 135m high. Located on
the banks of the River Thames it offers unrivalled views over London.
Overnight in London - full English breakfast included.
Day 4 - A Royal Day This morning, you’re
booked for a guided tour at St. Paul’s Cathedral. A Cathedral dedicated
to St Paul has overlooked the City of London since 604AD, a constant
reminder to this great commercial centre of the importance of the
spiritual side of life. The current Cathedral – the fourth to occupy
this site – was designed by the court architect Sir Christopher Wren
and built between 1675 and 1710 after its predecessor was destroyed in
the Great Fire of London. Its architectural and artistic importance
reflect the determination of the five monarchs who oversaw its building
that London’s leading church should be as beautiful and imposing as
their private palaces. Next, it’s Kensington Palace, one time home of
Princess Diana. A Royal residence since 1689, today’s visitors can
explore the magnificent State Apartments and the Royal Ceremonial Dress
Collection. This afternoon, take tea as a royal might... Afternoon Tea
at The Savoy. Served in the famous Thames Foyer and accompanied by the
sounds of the resident pianist, Afternoon Tea consists of a
mouth-watering array of sandwiches with a variety of fresh fillings,
delicate pastries, teacakes and scones with clotted cream and
strawberry preserve, and a wide range of distinct blends of tea to
choose from, imported by specialist tea suppliers from around the
world. This evening, it's only the best seats in the house for you! You

End**. Overnight in London - full English breakfast included.

through beautiful countryside on your way to Bath. After checking in to
your 4-star hotel, you'll join a few others for a tour to Salisbury
Plain to see one of Britain’s oldest and most mysterious edifices,
Stonehenge. Stonehenge is probably the most important prehistoric
monument in the whole of Britain and has attracted visitors from
earliest times. It stands as a timeless monument to the people who
built it. The Stonehenge that we see today is the final stage and was
completed about 3500 years ago. The evening is yours to explore the
beautiful and ancient Roman city of Bath.
Overnight in Bath - full English breakfast included.
Day 7 – Bath & Stratford-upon-Avon
This morning, you'll visit what's known as the best preserved Roman
religious spa in the world, the Roman Baths. In Roman times these
sources of hot water were something for which there was no natural
explanation, so they were considered to be the work of the Gods. This
sacred aspect added to their perceived curative powers and Bath was one
of several sites in the Roman Empire where natural hot springs became a
focus for pilgrimage and curative bathing. Regarded as the social heart
of Bath for more than two centuries, the Pump Room is a striking
neo-classical salon is the place to which hot Spa water is drawn for
drinking. The Pump Room contains a number of curiosities, including the
Tompion clock, given to the city in 1709 by Thomas Tompion, England’s
best known clockmaker. You can also find sedan chairs here. Then,
you're on your way to the home of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upo n-Avon.
First, check in to your 4-star hotel. The evening is yours to visit one
of Stratford's many quaint pubs, or even take an early evening sail on
the Avon, should the mood suit you. Overnight in Stratford - full
English breakfast included.
Day 8 – Shakespeare Country
Shakespeare Country is home to many treasures, including theatres,
castles and family attractions - all offering a wealth of things to see
and do throughout the year. Stratford-upon-Avon with its river setting
and Elizabethan buildings has a good choice of shops and restaurants.
Today, you'll join the "hop-on/hop-off" bus to view all five of the
Shakespearean Homes: Mary Arden's House, Hall's Croft, Anne Hathaway's
Cottage, Shakespeare's Birthplace, and Nash's House & New Place. If

ideal time. This evening, you'll see a production by the Royal
Shakespeare Company in one of the Stratford theatres. Bravo! Overnight
in Stratford - full English breakfast included.

of London and home away from home for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Check into your elegant town-house hotel overlooking the River Thames
(walking distance of Windsor town centre). Then, it's off to the castle
- Windsor Castle. Windsor Castle is an official residence of The Queen
and the largest occupied castle in the world. A Royal home and fortress
for over 900 years, the Castle remains a working palace today. Your

it's taking a stroll through town centre, having a few pints at a local
pub, or an elegant dinner out.
